Overclocking

Unlike the Kingston HyperX review, this time the kit managed it stock speeds with ease. This allowed me to explore just hope much headroom Crucial have given with this kit as what time was spent troubleshooting was allowed for overclocking this kit and some good results came of it.

I tested the kit at the rated 2.2v and saw what speeds it could hit at the 3 most popular timings of 3-3-3-8, 4-4-4-12 and 5-5-5-15 and everything other memory BIOS option on Auto. Prime95 v25.5's 'Blend' test was required to pass at least 6 hours of testing and was used as it could be timed and screenshotted for proof. As always with overclocking, YMMV (your mileage may vary) but this should serve as to an indicated of what this kit's potential is.

CL3 Max Overclock @2.2v =  714Mhz

CL4 Max Overclock @2.2v = 923Mhz

CL5 Max Overclock @2.2v = 1176Mhz

You'll have to excuse that CL5 screenshot - I loaded the two CPU-Z windows up, but forgot to change the second one to the 'Memory' tab! Doh! It was running the 1:2 ratio, so you multiply the FSB you see by 4 and get 1176 which was what it was running. If you're interested in the screenshot results for all the testing that was carried out, this can be found in the following folder - we're openly honest like that.
